About

A photo app
for actually keeping in touch.

Bygone is a small app from a small team. It does one thing. It lets you share pictures with the people whose lives you want to keep up with, and it tries to do it without taking over your evening.

Staying social shouldn’t feel so anti-social.

What the app does

You follow the people whose photos you want to see. Their posts land in your feed in the order they were shared. When you’ve seen the new ones, the feed quietly ends. The screen says “You’re all caught up,” and there’s nothing more to scroll.

Posts are square. Photo only. Filters happen when you take the shot, not in some edit screen afterward. Like counts stay between you and the post you made. Nobody sees a public number under anyone’s picture. No infinite scroll, no suggested-for-you, no ranking, no discover feed sliding into your home tab.

There is a Popular tab. It’s optional, it’s the same for everyone, and it’s not personalized to you. You can ignore it with zero consequence.

The Bygone feed, newest posts first.
The feed. Newest first.
The all-caught-up screen at the end of the feed.
The end. On purpose.

What it’s for

How we make money

Bygone is free. The free version shows one untargeted, plainly marked sponsored post for every ten real posts in your feed. We don’t build a profile of you to aim them.

Bygone Plus is $3.99 a month or $34.99 a year. Plus drops the ads, raises your storage, and lets you export your whole archive whenever you want. That’s how the lights stay on.

Our Pledge

We will never treat your attention as something that belongs to us.

Most apps you use are built to keep you there. Every screen is tuned, tested, and re-tested to pull one more minute out of you, because your minutes are the thing they sell. We think that’s a lousy way to treat people.

So here’s what we promise, in writing.
