The rules for using Bygone.

These terms govern your use of the Bygone app and website. By using Bygone you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app. Plain English; the legal weight is the same.

Summary. You keep ownership of what you post. We need a license to display it on Bygone. Don’t harass people, don’t post things that are illegal where you live, don’t try to break the app. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. We can suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Who can use Bygone

You must be 13 or older. If you’re in a place that requires a higher minimum age for social products, that age applies to you. One account per person; don’t hand your login to anyone else.

Your account

You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself. If you think someone else got into your account, email support@bygoneapp.com and we’ll help you lock it down.

What you post

You keep ownership of every photo, caption, comment, and message you post. By posting, you grant Bygone a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content for the sole purpose of operating the app — showing it to the followers you chose, generating renditions, backing it up. This license ends when you delete the content or your account.

You promise that the content you post is yours to post: you took the picture, you have permission from anyone identifiable in it, or it’s otherwise yours to share. If you’re not sure, leave it off Bygone.

What you can’t post

We may remove anything that violates these rules and suspend or terminate accounts that repeat-offend. We do not pre-screen posts.

How you use the app

Don’t scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise try to interact with Bygone in ways the app itself doesn’t support. Don’t attempt to bypass rate limits, access other people’s private posts, or interfere with the service. Automated access for accessibility tools that act on your own account is fine.

Bygone Plus

Bygone Plus is $3.99 per month or $34.99 per year, billed through your mobile platform’s in-app purchase system (Google Play or, in the future, the App Store). Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless you cancel through your platform’s subscription settings at least 24 hours before renewal. Refunds are handled by the platform that processed the payment, per their policies.

Ads

The free tier of Bygone shows untargeted sponsored posts. By using the free tier you accept that those posts will appear in your feed. If you don’t want to see them, subscribe to Plus.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if continued operation creates legal risk for Bygone, or if your account has been inactive for a very long time. You can terminate your own account at any time via Settings → Delete account or on the web account-deletion page. Soft-delete is immediate; permanent deletion follows 30 days later.

Disclaimer

Bygone is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific piece of content will be preserved indefinitely. Back up anything you can’t afford to lose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Bygone’s total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Bygone in the twelve months before the claim and (b) USD 50. Bygone is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that can’t be resolved by writing to us first will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the effective date at the top changes. Substantial changes are surfaced inside the app as a banner. Continuing to use Bygone after a change means you accept the new terms.
